The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), in collaboration with World Taekwondo (WT) Care, is set to launch the WT Care Program for the 2024-2025 term. This initiative, which aims to foster youth development through Taekwondo training, is building upon the successes of the previous year’s program. It will run from October 2024 through March 2025, providing an extended platform for young athletes to learn, grow, and excel.
In the 2023-2024 program, 900 to 1,000 orphaned children received Taekwondo training, focusing on both poomsae (forms) and kyrougi (sparring). This exposure not only provided physical training but also served as a means of empowerment, helping these youth gain confidence and discipline through martial arts. Among these participants, four to five promising athletes competed at the national level, showcasing their talent on a broader stage and gaining invaluable experience in high-level competition.
The upcoming program is expected to surpass last year’s achievements, with PTF hoping for even greater participation. This endeavor is a testament to PTF’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting Taekwondo as a tool for personal development, empowerment, and social upliftment. Through this program, children are given a chance to discover their potential and take part in a sport that builds character and instills lifelong values.
The success of last year’s athletes highlights the potential impact this program can have on the lives of participants. As PTF looks ahead, it remains committed to providing opportunities for young athletes to shine on both the national and international stages, inspiring growth, achievement, and a sense of community among the youth.
