Pakistan is set to make its debut as the host of the prestigious Cross Country Athletics Championship, scheduled for November 24, 2024. The event will bring together seven nations from South Asia, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Bhutan. The country’s entry into the hosting arena marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s growing involvement in international athletics.
Chairman of South Asia Athletics, Major General (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, announced the championship and confirmed that the official venue will be revealed in the coming days. He emphasized the importance of the event and the support from the government.
“The government has also issued NOC to organize the championship,” said Sahi.
The competition will feature two men’s categories, including senior and under-20 athletes, providing a platform for elite and emerging talent in the region. The event promises to be a key sporting event in South Asia, as it fosters camaraderie and competitive spirit among neighboring nations.
The confirmation of Pakistan as the host further highlights the nation’s growing profile in sports at the international level.
