Faheem Ashraf has been appointed captain of the seven-member Pakistan squad that will participate in the prestigious Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, set to take place from 1 to 3 November at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground in Hong Kong. The team is set to face off against 11 other international sides in this highly anticipated short-format tournament.
Pakistan has a rich legacy in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, having clinched the title five times since the tournament’s inception in 1992. The team has also finished as runners-up on five occasions, including in the most recent edition in 2017.
The squad will be accompanied by former Test wicketkeeper-batter Saleem Yousuf, who will serve as the team manager. The players selected for this tournament bring a blend of experience and youth, with many having experience on the international stage.
“Pakistan has always been a formidable side in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes. With a strong blend of power hitters and all-rounders, we are confident of making a strong impact this year.”
– Faheem Ashraf, Pakistan Captain
The competition format, which features six-a-side matches with five overs per innings, requires both batting firepower and versatile bowling. Faheem Ashraf’s all-round skills, combined with the explosive batting of Asif Ali and Hussain Talat, and the seam bowling of Aamer Yamin, make this squad a formidable contender.
